The last slow-pitch softball season in the history of Ethel High School is one the Lady Tigers can certainly take pride in.
The Lady Tigers only lost four games during the regular season and closed out the year with a 23-7 overall record, advancing all the way to the MHSAA Class I playoffs.
Ethel, coached by Chris Schuster, had no troubles in the first round as the Lady Tigers rolled past Forest 10-0 and 11-1. Ethel backed that up with a win over Wesson in the second round. The Lady Tigers won the first game 3-0 and after dropping game two 9-3 bounced back to win the deciding third contest 5-3.
Ethel saw its outstanding season come to a close with a two-game sweep at the hands of Lake in the third round.
The last week of region play was a good one for the Lady Tigers as they beat French Camp 6-2 and a tough Union squad 2-1 to clinch the region title. Just a week earlier Ethel had pushed itself to the top of the standings with an exciting 7-6 win over Union thanks to a grand slam by Shelby Schuster.
