The Ethel Tigers hosted the MHSAA Class 2A J. Z. George Jaguars last Friday night and dropped the contest 39-16. The Tigers trailed 13-8 after one quarter of play and 26-8 at the half.
The Jaguars punched one in in the third quarter, taking a 33-8 lead into the fourth. The Tigers scored another touchdown in the final quarter as did the Jaguars to push the final margin to 39-16. The Tigers fell to 2-3 overall while J. Z. George improved to 3-3 on the year.
Offensively the Jaguars were led by sophomore quarterback Malik Christian, who was 10-of-13 through the air for 169 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. Christian also rushed for 59 yards on just five carries with a touchdown as well. Senior Lajarvis Jenkins had 53 yards on three carries and two catches for 10 yards while senior receiver Caleb Hunt had four catches for 119 yards with two touchdowns.
The Tigers will host Leake County (2-3, 1-1) on Friday night at 7 p.m. looking to pick up another Region 3-1A win.
