The 2018 fast-pitch softball season officially came to a close for the Ethel Lady Tigers last week, when a host of coach Tyler McKinley’s players were honored at the school’s athletic banquet.
Ethel finished with an 18-9 record this spring, advancing to the third round of the MHSAA Class 1A state playoffs.
Jessica Mitchell won top honors as the Most Valuable Player after throwing a pair of no-hitters and striking out 45 in the circle. She hit .492 for the season with three home runs and 38 RBIs.
The Golden Arm award went to Kambrie Hodges, who struck out a team-high 98 on the season and also had a no-hitter. Opposing batters hit just .189 against Hodges.
Emily Mitchell took home the Batting Award as well as the Rookie of the Year honors after hitting .500 on the year.
Other awards handed out last Thursday included the Best Infielder Award to Sidney Rone, the Best Outfielder Award to Breanna Blaine, the Most Improved Award to Haley Wiegel, the Team Captain Award to Brooklyn Pitt and the Sub Award to Shelby Schuster.
