The Durant Tigers fell to 0-5 overall and 0-2 in Region 3-1A play on Friday night after dropping a 42-6 decision to the Leake County Gators (2-3, 1-1).
The Gators scored first, conversion failed and led early on 6-0 and quickly scored again on a 46-yard run by Johnny Morgan with about four minutes left in the first quarter. After a successful two-point conversion, the Gators led 14-0. With just under a minute left in the first quarter, the Gators struck again on a big play when Jermarius Williams broke loose and raced 46 yards for another score. The PAT failed, but the Gators took a 20-0 lead into the second quarter.
The Tigers got on the board first in the third quarter with about nine minutes left when Antoine Collins caught an eight-yard touchdown pass, PAT failed, to pull within 14 points of the Gators, pushing the score to 20-6. The Tigers would not score again.
The Gators found the end zone once again with under a minute left in the third quarter when Jalcon Morgan ran one in from 21-yards out, two-point run good, to take a 28-6 lead over the Tigers.
Leake County scored twice in the fourth quarter, first on a 94-yard run by Jalcon Morgan, PAT failed, and a16-yard pass from Johnny Morgan to Martavius Lyles, two-point run good, to push the final to 42-6.
Durant will host Sebastopol in a Region 3-1A contest at 7 p.m. on Friday night.
