McAdams High School named Priest Crockett Jr. head coach recently after the departure of former head coach Adam Bobo. Bobo left the Bulldogs to become the defensive coordinator for Richland High School. Crockett hails from the state of Louisiana and was hired on the McAdams football staff in 2015.
He graduated from McCall High School in Tallulah, La. in 1987 and served in the Army for four years and was part of Desert Storm as well. After leaving the Army, Crockett worked for Walmart in Killeen, Texas before graduating from Ashford University in 2012. During this time, he served as the defensive backs/secondary coach at Warren Easton High School in New Orleans from 2009 through 2013. Crockett then became head coach of the Phoenix Middle School football team in Belle Chasse, La. in 2014 before accepting an assistant coaching position at McAdams High School in 2015.
After Bobo’s departure, Crockett was named head coach, and he finds it hard to hide his excitement.
“I’m like a kid coming to practice every day,” said Crockett. “I just can’t wait to get started and the kids are on board and ready to start the season, too.”
Crockett has four children with his wife of 24 years, the former Angela McDonald of Tallulah. He looks forward to being fairly close to where he grew up and the opportunity to lead the McAdams football team.
“I’m proud that they chose me as head coach and I am honored to hopefully lead their children to a successful season,” added Crockett. “I am happy to have the administration backing me and they have given me their full support. As I’ve said, the kids are on board and have been working hard in the weight room to prepare for the season.”
Crockett will teach Geography and Mississippi History when the 2016-17 school year starts.
