The Kosciusko 2018 football schedule has been announced, and it is nearly a mirror image of the 2017 schedule.
The Whippets will open the much-anticipated 2018 campaign with a contest at home against Class 5A Neshoba Central on Aug. 17. And, once again, they will compete in one of the state’s toughest regions in Class 4A.
Kosciusko is coming off a 3-9 campaign, when the Whippets finished third in Region 4-4A behind state champion
Noxubee County and a 12-3 Louisville team which only lost to state champs. The Whippets started the year 0-6 before splitting their final six games, including a heartbreaking 17-14 loss to Itawamba AHS in the Class 4A state playoffs.
After the Neshoba contest, Kosy will go to Forest on Aug. 24 and will host Ridgeland Aug. 31.
They will kick off September with a home game against Grenada on Sept. 7, followed by another contest at home against Winona on Sept. 14. After a trip to Florence Sept. 21, the Whippets will open region play with a visit to Leake Central Sept. 28.
Kosciusko also has four contests in October, including three more region games. It starts with an Oct. 5 home date with New Hope, followed by a trip to Noxubee County on Oct. 12. The Whippets will host Louisville Oct. 19, then wrap up the regular season by stepping out of division play with a trip to Morton on Oct. 26.
The Class 4A state playoffs are slated to begin Nov. 2.
