The Lady Whippets improved to 10-3 overall after winning their seventh and eighth straight contests over Lake and Morton last week. The Lady Whippets, who are 3-0 in Region 4-4A play, sent Katie Mitchell to the mound against Lake last Friday night where she pitched a shutout in seven complete, yielding only two hits while striking out six in Kosy’s 3-0 win.
The offensive leaders for the Lady Whippets were Kelly Hood with two singles and one run scored; Josie Meggs with a single; Madeline McCown with a single and one run scored; Mitchell with a double; Gabbie Kelley with a single; Melissa Gowan with a single; Audrey Claire Henderson (AC) with a single; AnnaLeigh Jones with one run scored.
On Monday night the Lady Whippets sent Katie Lawrence to the center circle where she picked up the win in five innings of work, allowing just three hits while striking out nine in Kosy’s 10-0 win. The offensive leaders for the Lady Whippets were Mitchell with a double, three RBI and one run scored; Maddy Gilmore with two singles, a double and one run scored; Kelley with a single and one run scored; Gowan with a single and two runs scored; AC Henderson with a double and one run scored; Kathryn Schuler with a single; Meggs with one run scored; Hood with one run scored; McCown with one run scored and Jones with one run scored.
The Lady Whippets traveled to Carthage on Tuesday to take on the Leake Central Lady Gators in Region 4-4A action and will host Louisville on Thursday in region action as well at 5 p.m. The Lady Whippets will host Winona on Saturday at 10 a.m.
