The French Camp baseball team improved to 1-5 overall after defeating Noxapater 11-5 last Friday night.
Zach Avent got the win after pitching three innings, yielding three runs (two earned) on three hits and one walk while striking out four Tigers. John Weeks notched the save after pitching four innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits while walking three and striking out seven. The score was tied at 1-1 after one inning of play before the Panthers took a 4-1 lead into the third inning.
Noxapter scored two to push the score to 4-3 and would tie it in the top of the fifth inning at 4-4. The Panthers blew the game open in the bottom half of the fifth inning with seven runs to take an 11-4 lead and scored another run in the bottom of the sixth before yielding a run to Noxapater in the top of the seventh, pushing the final to 12-5.
The Panthers were on the road on Tuesday night where they began Region 6-1A play at Ethel and will complete the series on Friday in French Camp at 6 p.m. French Camp will host Sebastopol on Tuesday night at 6 p.m.
