Starkville defeated Kosciusko 2-0 last Friday in the Whippets’ return to the pitch from the Thanksgiving break. The loss dropped Kosciusko to 4-4 overall on the season. Kosciusko has a six-day break before resuming play on Friday at home against Winona. The Lady Whippets and Whippets also play on Saturday when Ridgeland visits Kosciusko.
“The girls played hard and really gave everything they had against a 6A school,” Kosciusko coach Greg Cooper said. “I thought they came in and fought really hard and only ended up losing 2-0. We started off a little bit slow in the first half, made a couple of adjustments in the second half and played better, but came up short."
BOYS
Kosciusko fell, 7-0, against Starkville last Friday. The loss was the Whippets’ third consecutive. They’ll look to return to the win column on Friday when they host Winona. Kosciusko (3-5) earned an 8-0 win against Winona on Nov. 15.
“We’re still trying to find the formation and the people who are going to make that formation work,” said Cooper. “We started off slow and got behind. Give Starkville credit — they had some guys that appeared to run 4.3 40s (yard dash), and they were their forwards. We were down 5-0 at the end of the first half. We came out with better fight in the second half.”
