Kosciusko is inching closer to finding its new head football coach. The deadline for applications for the vacant position closes at the end of the day on Wednesday.
“At this point, we’re just waiting,” Kosciusko athletic director Macy Wilbanks said. “The deadline is Wednesday, so we haven’t done a whole lot with it — just giving people time to apply. We’ll sit down later this week and start sorting through that and try to determine who we want to bring in and interview, and set up a timetable for that.”
Whoever emerges with the position will be the 18th head coach in school history.
“The goal is to get a football coach in here as soon as we can,” Wilbanks said.
Former Kosciusko head coach Kelly Causey resigned from the position in mid-November, a week after the Whippets suffered an 11-point loss to Rosa Fort in the first round of the MHSAA Class 4A playoffs.
Causey complied a 9-25 overall record in three seasons. Kosciusko went 6-7 in Region 4-4A contest during Causey’s tenure and made the postseason in each of his three years. The Whippets went 3-8 last season.
