Kosciusko baseball began its postseason push with a resounding 27-0 victory against Clarksdale Saturday, then capped it off with a 16-2 road win over the Wildcats on Monday to sweep the first-round series.
KHS will take on the Pontotoc-New Albany winner beginning on Thursday.
The Whippets wasted little time dictating how the series opener would flow, as they scored 24 runs in the first inning. They added another three runs in the second before the contest was called in the third in accordance with the MHSAA-approved run rule.
Kosciusko (20-7-1) ripped 27 hits against Clarksdale’s one.
Heath McBride and Micah Parker combined to one-hit the Wildcats. Both pitchers accumulated three strikeouts apiece, with McBride going two innings and earning the win.
Lucas Price led all Kosciusko batters with four RBIs. Tyler Vancise, Eldarius Roby, Evan Scott and Jon Deason chipped in with three RBIs. Chase Morgan added two.
Roby and Deason notched a team-high two hits. Kosciusko drew nine walks.
