French Camp and Kosciusko both competed at the MC Watson Ford Invitational cross country meet at Choctaw Trails, but in different divisions. Kosciusko was in Division 1 for 4A, 5A and 6A schools and French Camp in Division 2 for 1A, 2A and 3A schools.
French Camp boy finished fourth and the girls were eighth.
With only three runners in each race, Kosciusko was unable to compete as a team. A minimum of five runners is required.
French Camp boys finished with a team score of 136, trailing Senatobia (56), St. Patrick (62) and Ouachita Christian School of Monroe, La. (119). The girls had a team score of 163.
Colby Walters was the top French Camp boy with a 5,000 meter time of 19:25.56 to finish 18th. He was followed by David Ferguson, 30th in 19:58.73; Silas Hodge, 33rd in 20:05.34; Cameron McDaniel, 48th in 20:47.81; Brady Peacock, 76th in 23:01.98; and Josh Lopez,112th in 25:23.09.
For French Camp girls, Averie Jane Gundy was 21st with a time of 23:33.84. Maddi Davis was 37th (25:16.87), Olivia Gundy 48th (25:42.14), Kelsey Bridges 67th (27:12.06), McKenzie Griffin 74th (28:17.96), Brooklyn Monroe 107th (32:21.32) and Sarah Thompson 114th (36:05.94).
The top Kosciusko boy was Gustavo Orduna in 37th place with a clocking of 19:12.65. Jorge Orduna was 77th in 20:35.98 and Jeremy Bell 172nd in 23:30.81.
Reid Hutchinson was 55th in 23:12.93 for Kosciusko girls, followed by Markayla McBride, 126th in 26:59.38, and Emmalee Myers, 202nd in 36:20.21.
Kosciusko did have six runners for the girls middle school race, finishing 13th. Emma Rhodes was the top Lady Whippet in 24th place with a time of 15:00.86 for 3,200 meters (slightly less than two miles). Kimora Winters was 79th (17:31.1), Katelynn Cessna 104th (19:05.98), Chloe Huffman 140th (22:02.47), Takiyah Wilson 148th (24:02.37) and Zyasia Randle 144th (26:02.19).
There was only one division for all middle school runners.
French Camp will compete in the Madison XC Festival Saturday.
