The Kosciusko High School baseball and softball seasons officially get underway this weekend, as the Whippets take part in a classic event at Pearl and the Lady Whippets take the short trip to Ackerman to take part in the Choctaw County Classic on Saturday.
The KHS baseball team is set to face Greenville at 4 p.m. on Friday at Pearl High School, then face Murrah at 4 p.m. on Saturday at the same site.
This past weekend the Whippets took part in a jamboree, beating Mantachie 4-1 and tying Tupelo 1-1.
The Lady Whippets had a big day on Saturday at their own jamboree, beating Winona 19-0 and Choctaw County 19-1.
This Saturday the Kosy softball team is set to face Starkville at 10 a.m. and Ethel at 11:45 a.m. in the Choctaw County event. The rest of the classic schedule has Starkville and South Pontotoc playing at 1:30 p.m., Choctaw County taking on Leake Central at 3:15 p.m. and South Pontotoc playing Leake Central at 5 p.m.
Ethel is set to play baseball at Central Holmes on Friday at 6 p.m., then host the Trojans at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
French Camp is scheduled to visit Winona Christian at 4 p.m. in baseball on Friday, before hosting the Stars at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
The FCA softball team is set to begin its season with a visit to Louisville for a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m.
