The Tigers (2-2) will host the MHSAA Class 2A J. Z. George Jaguars (2-3) this Friday night in Ethel before settling in on their Region 3-1A slate to finish the season. The Jaguars are coming off a 42-19 loss to Winona last Friday night and the Tigers are coming off a 12-6 win over Durant.
The Jaguars are led by sophomore quarterback Malik Christian who is 26-of-63 through the air for 399 yards with eight touchdowns and two interceptions and has 136 yards rushing on 43 carries with two touchdowns as well. Sophomore running back Montavis Jenkins is the leading rusher for the Jaguars with 203 yards on 28 carries and four touchdowns.
Defensively the Jaguars are led by senior Gregory Smith who has 41 tackles and 10 TFL’s; senior Justin Randle with 43 tackles and 10 TFL’s and junior Josh Wiggins with 32 tackles and 6 TFL’s.
“They are going to come in a hungry football team that is well coached and I know that they will play their tails off,” said Ethel head coach Hogan Briscoe. “They do what they do well and we are excited to be playing a 2A football team and to be back at home coming off of a road win.”
