Big innings enabled French Camp to even its Region 5-1A record at 2-2 with victories over Noxapater 22-3 and 11-0.
The Panthers' 16-hit attack – eight for extra bases – in the first game featured nine runs in the first and 11 in the third.
Several players had big games at the plate for the Panthers, as 10 players scored runs and six had RBIs. Seth Box led the attack with a single, double, homer, four RBIs and three runs scored. Holman Edwards had three hits and a walk, drove in three runs and scored three; Phillip Lucas doubled and homered with five RBIs and two runs scored; Bradley Edwards doubled twice, drove in three runs and scored three; Cody Perry had two hits and three RBIs; Jarren Holmes had a single and double with one RBI.
Box and Holt Barlow did the pitching in the five inning game. Box went three innings, allowed three hits and two earned runs, with two strikeouts. Barlow pitched two hitless innings with four strikeouts.
French Camp broke open the second Noxapater game with nine runs in the fourth.
The Panthers improved to 2-2 in region play, the losses coming against two-time defending state champion Nanih Waiya. Remaining are two games each with McAdams and Ethel. The Ethel games should determine second place in the district.
The top four teams advance to the 1A state playoffs beginning April 18, with the top two getting home field if the opening round best of three series goes to a decisive game.
