The French Camp girls basketball team rallied from a 10-point fourth quarter deficit but came up just short in a 34-33 loss to Winona.
“I started three ninth graders and they were extremely nervous,” said Coach Pricilla Anderson.
Madison Klein kept the Lady Panthers in the game with 21 points. “She could have had more,” Anderson said. “In the first half, she wasn’t hitting. She was nervous. When she settled down, she did well.”
Klein, a senior ,has joined the team after not playing as a junior.
The French Camp boys, who were shorthanded due to the football team participated in the playoffs, dropped a 61-29 decision.
“The kids played really hard,” said coach Robert Leathers. “They played much better the second half.”
Everett Holland scored 16 points for French Camp.
The Panthers and Lady Panthers were set to play Winona Christian Monday and will be at Nanih Waiya Thursday.
