French Camp ran into the state top team in MHSAA 1A last week and the result was 8-1 and 17-2 losses to Nanih Waiya in the Panthers first two games in 5-1A.
French Camp totaled eight hits in the two games. In the first game, French Camp scored its run in the sixth inning after Nanih Waiya had taken an 8-0 lead.
The second game ended when Nanih Waiya scored 10 runs in the fourth inning.
Nanih Waiya (14-1) is the top ranked team in 1A and is defending state champion.
Other teams in the region are Ethel, McAdams and Noxapater. The top four teams advance to the playoffs beginning April 19 and will be matched up with teams from Region 8 in South Mississippi in opening round best-of-three series.
French Camp had a makeup game from an earlier rainout Monday with East Webster. The Panthers were set to host Noxapater Tuesday and have a game at Noxapater Friday.
