The Ethel Lady Tigers defeated East Webster 9-7 and fell to Winona 8-5 recently before taking two wins in a row over Noxapater and Nanih Waiya by scores of 12-2 and 10-0 respectively last week. With the three wins the Lady Tigers have moved to 4-3 overall on the year.
In the East Webster contest Kambrie Hodges got the start and the win for the Lady Tigers. The offensive leaders for Ethel were Sidney Rone with one hit; Madison Odom with three hits; Breanna Blaine with one hit; Jessica Mitchell with one hit and Hodges with two hits. “The girls played great but we have plenty of room for improvement,” said Ethel head coach Beth Thompson. “It was a great win and I am very proud of them.”
In the Lady Tigers 8-5 loss to Winona, Jessica Mitchell got the start and took the loss. The offensive leaders for the Lady Whippets were Rone with a double; Blaine with a single; Mitchell with a single and a home run; Avery Bouchillon with a single and Amiracle Edwards with a triple. “We lost this game off of errors in the field,” added Thompson. “We gave the other team too many extra outs and they capitalized.”
The Lady Tigers went on to win two in a row over Noxapater and Nanih Waiya but no stats were available at press time.
The Lady Tigers played in the East Webster Tournament on Monday and played in the Kosciusko Invitational Tournament on Tuesday. The Lady Tigers will resume play next Monday when they travel to Yazoo County for a 5 p.m. contest and will begin region play at 5 p.m. on Tuesday at French Camp.
