Tyler McKinley says his Lady Tigers softball team can be something special; he would just like for them to have a chance to be seen.
"I'm looking for better weather so we can get something going into district play," said Coach McKinley. "We should be fine, but it is irritating to have a good team and not be able to showcase them."
The Lady Tigers opened their season with a 7-3 win over Union and were hoping to get four more games in this week. Ethel was set to visit perennial powerhouse Neshoba Central on Tuesday, before taking on Caledonia on Friday, then traveling to South Pontotoc for a doubleheader beginning at noon Saturday.
Jessica Mitchell had a home run and double in the win over Union, and was the winning pitcher as the Lady Tigers held off the Lady Yellow Jackets.
Shelby Schuster had a single and a double for Ethel.
McKinley says he is hoping his girls can make up for lost time this week.
"This weather has me worried about my girls' timing," he said. "I really thought I was sending them into spring break for a break, but it feels like the season still hasn't started."
