The Ethel Boys and Girls basketball teams saw their seasons come to a close last week as the Tigers fell to Hamilton in the first round of the MHSAA Boys Class 1A playoffs, while the Lady Tigers won their first round 1A playoff game over West Lowndes, but lost to Leake County in the second round.
Ethel Boys would finish the season 12-13, while the Ethel Girls finished 14-12.
Ethel girls 57, West Lowndes 56
Akilah Erving would pour in a game-high 32 points as the Lady Tigers edged the Lady Panthers in the first round of the MHSAA Girls Class 1A playoffs.
Chiquita Merritt added 17 points for Ethel.
Leake County girls 67, Ethel 56
Erving would compile yet another double-double, but it was not enough as the Lady Gators got past the Lady Tigers.
Erving had a game-high 28 points and grabbed 19 rebounds for Ethel, while Dejah Merritt added 12 points for the Lady Tigers.
Hamilton Boys 62, Ethel 58
Daquannay Dotson would have 18 points along with six rebounds, but the Lions were just too much for the Tigers.
Saccario Merritt added 14 points and seven rebounds, while Akeem Erving chipped in 10 points and seven rebounds.
