After dropping two games in a weekend tournament, the Ethel High School Lady Tigers rebounded with an 8-2 win over Leake Central on Monday night. Ethel is set to host Winona on Thursday.
"The team will continue to improve with more and more reps," said head coach Chris Schuster.
Last year Ethel finished the year 17-8 and reached the first round of the playoffs before falling to Perry Central.
Ethel opened its season with losses to South Pontotoc (12-0) an Houlka (5-3).
With only two classifications in slow pitch softball this year, the Lady Tigers will be Class I, Region 5 with French Camp, McAdams, Philadelphia, Union and Velma Jackson.
Top players will be third basemen Madison Odom, shortstop Brooke Mitchell, Shelby Schuster at second base along with Emily Mitchell, Kambrie Hodges and Breanna Blaine in the outfield.
On Aug. 20 Ethel is at Leake Central, before visiting Winona two days later.
