The Ethel girls basketball team would win both games this week, while the Ethel boys would lose both games.
Both the Tigers (12-12) and the Lady Tigers (12-10) will head to French Camp on Tuesday and Friday for the Region 5-1A district tournament. Ethel girls will play French Camp at 7 p.m., while the Ethel boys will face Coffeeville at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. If the girls win, they will play in championship game Friday night at 7 p.m., but if they lose, they will play at 4 p.m. on Friday. If the boys win, they will play at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, but if they lose, they will play at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
All four teams in Region 5-1A are already in the playoffs that start next week.

D'Ayres Merritt would have a team-high 15 points to lead Ethel, but the Eagles were able to come away with the win.
D'Vontrae Felton and Daquannay Dotson each added 12 points for the Tigers. Izik Stewart chipped in eight points for Ethel.

Merritt and Saccario Merritt each had 16 points to lead Ethel; however, the Bobcats would squeeze out the win at home.
Dotson added 12 points for the Tigers, while Stewart chipped in nine points.

Akilah Erving would pour in a game-high 35 points to lead the Lady Tigers past the Lady Eagles.
ejah Merritt added nine points for Ethel, while Amiracle Edwards chipped in seven points for the Lady Tigers.

Erving would have a game-high 29 points as the Lady Tigers edged the Lady Bobcats.
