The Central Holmes Lady Trojans captured the District 2-AAA tournament championship last week with a pair of wins.
The Lady Trojans opened the week with a 47-25 win over Winona Christian and finished with a 51-32 win over host Carroll Academy in the championship game.
The Trojans weren’t as fortunate as they dropped a 49-47 decision to Indianola in the opening round, ending their season.
The Lady Trojans improve to 23-9 on the season and will host the North AAA Tournament this week.
The Lady Trojans enter the North AAA Tournament as the No. 1 seed out of District 2. The Lady Trojans will play on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. and will play Marshall Academy at 6:30 p.m. The winner of that game will play the winner of Lee Academy and Winona Christian on Friday at 5:15 p.m. The girls championship game is set for Saturday at 2:15 p.m.
Central Holmes girls 51, Carroll 32
The Lady Trojans repeated as district champions and beat theLady Rebels for the third time this season with a 19-point win on Saturday in the championship game.
Carroll played tough early as the led 11-10 at the end of the first period before Central Holmes outscored the Lady Rebels 19-9 in the second to lead 29-20 at the half. Central Holmes continued to expand its lead in the second half as they outscored Carroll 10-7 in the third and 12-5 in the fourth.
Dru Chamblee led Carroll with 10 points and three steals. Gracie Turner had eight points and nine rebounds while Lainey Claire Dunn had seven points.
Breann Bell led Central Holmes with 21 points.
Central Holmes girls 47, Winona Christian 25
The Lady Trojans pulled away and took a 22-point win over the Lady Stars on Thursday.
Each team scored nine points in the first period before Central Holmes took the second period 14-8 to lead 23-17 at the half. The Lady Trojans pulled away in the second period as they outscored Winona 10-3 in the third and 13-5 in the fourth.
Breann Bell led Central Holmes with 25 points.
Bella Roberts led Winona with 13 points while Sara Burden White added seven points.
Indianola boys 49, Central Holmes 47
The Trojans fell behind early and eventually dropped a two-point decision to the Colonels to end their season on Tuesday.
Indianola led 17-7 at the end of the first period but the Trojans outscored the Colonels 15-7 in the second and trailed 24-22 at the half. Central Holmes outscored Indianola 14-11 in the third to take a 36-35 lead into the fourth. But Indianola took the fourth 14-11 to take the two-point win.
Lawrence Wiley led Indianola with 15 points while C.J. Head had nine points. Bradley Robinson and Jace Dean also chipped in seven points apiece.
