The Central Holmes girls improved to 5-3 on the basketball season with a pair of double-digit wins last week, beating Tri-County 45-29 and Benton 58-40.
The Trojans split their two games, beating Tri-County 55-28 and losing 43-42 win Benton.
Central Holmes will return to action this week as they travel to Washington on Tuesday and will open district 1-AA play against Carroll Academy on Friday with games beginning at 2 p.m.
After the Christmas break, the teams will return to action in the Benton Academy Tournament on Friday, Dec. 28 and Saturday, Dec. 29.
The Lady Trojans picked up a pair of wins last week with victories over Benton and Tri-County.
Against Tri-County, the Lady Trojans jumped out to a 13-2 lead at the end of the first and used that advantage to take 45-29 win. After jumping ahead 13-2, each team scored 13 in the second period as Central Holmes led 26-15 at the break. Central Holmes maintained its lead and outscored Tri-County 9-6 in the third and 10-8 in the fourth. Breanne Bell led Central Holmes with 14 points while Laura Kathryn Rutledge had 13 points. In the junior high girls game, Central Holmes took a 32-26 win as Mackenzie Ward had 14 points and Taylor Spell had eight points.
Against Benton, the Lady Trojans outscored the Lady Raiders in every period to take the 58-40 win. Central Holmes led 16-11 at the end of the first and 33-22 at the half. The Lady Trojans outscored the Lady Raiders 8-7 in the third and 17-11 in the fourth to take the win. Carmen Martin led Central Holmes with 16 points while Breann Bell had 13 points. In the junior high girls game, Benton took a 27-24 win despite a strong comeback effort from the Lady Trojans as Mackenzie Ward had 11 points.
The Trojans split a pair of contests last week as they hammered Tri-County and lost a one-point heartbreaker to Benton.
Against Tri-County, the Trojans took a 55-28 win as Lake Melton and Noah Burton each had 15 points apiece and Wykece Johnson added 14 points.
Against Benton, the Trojans suffered a 43-42 setback against the Raiders. Lake Melton led the Trojans with 16 points while Noah Burton added 14 points.
