The Central Holmes Christian School Lady Trojans took a dominating win in the Class AA track and field meet last week.
The Lady Trojans scored 199.50 points, winning 12 events and placing in every event to beat out Glenbrook who was second with a score of 106.5 It is the third track and field state championship in five years for the Lady Trojans.
“We brought back a nearly identical group of girls from last year’s AA State Champion team with the exception of two kids,” Central Holmes coach Niki Edwards said. “We had four talented senior girls who led this team to dominant District, North State and State meet wins including Jordan Pritchard who won the 100 and 200, Shelby Lindsay who won the 400, Laura Kathryn Rutledge who won the Triple Jump and Brantley Holder who placed 5th in the Shot Put.
“We had an incredible supporting group of underclassman including sophomore Breann Bell who won her 10th, 11th, and 12th individual event golds. We have a lot talented girl coming back next season. Winning back-to-back championships is something I knew was possible, but to actually accomplish it says much about the dedication and drive of the kids I am fortunate to coach. I look forward to moving up to AAA and going for three in a row next season.”
The Central Holmes boys also had a strong showing, finishing second with 127.5 points while Centreville scored 155 points.
