The Ethel Tigers saw their baseball season come to an end last week.
After a tough three-game series with Taylorsville, Ethel lost two games to Resurrection Catholic, losing 9-1 on Thursday and 12-2 on Saturday.
Ethel finished the season with a 21-14 record.
Resurrection 9, Ethel 1
The Eagles used a pair of four-run innings to take an eight-run win over the Tigers on Thursday.
Resurrection scored one in the first and four in the second to lead 5-1. Ethel scored its lone run in the fourth while Resurrection added four more runs in the fifth.
Resurrection outhit Ethel 9-5 in the contest. Collin White was 2-for-3 with a double while Eli Ramage was also 2-for-3. Ryan Burrell singled while Wes Bishop scored the team’s only run.
Bishop started on the mound and pitched just 1 1/3 innings, giving up five runs on three hits and three walks. Gabe Cain pitched one inning and walked four but did not give up a run. Brady White pitched two innings and gave up two runs on two hits while Hunter Hutchison pitched 2/3 innings and gave up two runs on three hits. Ramage pitched the last inning and gave up just one hit.
Resurrection 12, Ethel 2
The Eagles took advantage of 13 walks and five errors as they took a 10-run win on Saturday to sweep the season series.
Resurrection scored one in the first and Ethel scored one in the second to tie the game. The game was tied at 1-1 through four innings before Resurrection scored four in the fifth, five in the sixth and two in the seventh. Ethel added a last run in the fifth.
Ethel had seven hits but had five errors and issued 13 walks. Wes Bishop was 2-for-4 with a double while Eli Ramage was 2-for-3 as well. Gabe Cain doubled and scored while Kadan Adams singled and scored.
Adams started on the mound and pitched 4 2/3 innings, giving up five runs on four hits and six walks. Cain pitched 2/3 of an inning and gave up five runs on three hits and four walks while Ramage came in and got one out but walked two. Hunter Hutchison and Ryan Burrell each pitched 2/3 of an inning to finish out the game for the Tigers.
