The French Camp are not exactly rolling going to the first round of the Class 1A playoffs.
After losing back-to-back 9-1 games to Ethel, the Panthers lost 6-2 to East Webster on Tuesday to finish the regular season.
The Panthers have now lost three in a row after opening the season with nine straight wins.
French Camp falls to 16-6 on the season and finishes 7-3 in division play. The Panthers will play in the first round of the Class 1A playoffs this week as they were scheduled to play at Enterprise-Lincoln on Monday at 7 p.m. Game 2 of the series will be Friday at French Camp at 6 p.m. with an if-necessary game on Saturday at Brookhaven at 7 p.m.
East Webster 6, French Camp 2
The Wolverines scored four runs in the fifth inning and used that advantage to take a win over the Panthers on Tuesday.
French Camp scored one in the first and third while East Webster scored one in the second and fourth. East Webster then scored four runs in the fifth inning.
Each team had three hits in the contest. Ethan Wright doubled while Noah Dew singled, scored and had an RBI. Nick Long singled and had an RBI while Carton Philyaw also singled. Avery Summers also scored a run.
Philyaw started on the mound and pitched 4 2/3 innings and gave up five runs with only one earned run on three hits and a walk while striking out three. Eli Withers pitched 1 1/3 innings and gave up one run and struck out one.
