To the Editor:
If we are to have better in our lives, then we must embrace life without fear and become better engaged in our government. The United States is different in regards to the ballot box and the level of power the people actually have. We actually control our school boards. However, in recent years people have chosen to disengage from the government. They have done so to the point of not knowing where they should vote.
When citizens chose to not be engaged in their local, state, or federal government, those with ill intent take hold of the government. Our government of, for the people and by the people becomes a servant to a select few. Tate Reeves took it to the max when he attempted to have an access road dedicated for service of his subdivision. We still don’t know the names of those who were paid taxpayers’ funds for the beef plant. Where does the money go Mississippi? It doesn’t take multiple millions to create 50 jobs. Become engaged in your government.
We have elections in 2019 and the last day to qualify to run for office is March 1. Think on things and how you can be active in the government. Showing up to rally for the hate of others is not being active in government, it is living out your fears. Showing up to create solutions that allow all to rise is how one is active in government that is done for the good of the people. Will you be active in 2019?
I am adding the names of the members of the Mississippi Legislature in this piece. Get to know who represents you.
