To the Editor:
I wish to thank all who made the effort in 2018 to run, thank you. Who is president is important. Who we have running our state and county is vital. The federal government can send billions to the state but without proper allocation it means nothing.
If you are tired of closed schools, dilapidated schools, and highways that are little more than chunks of asphalt, then I suggest you run for office or make a plan to vote. I have hope for a better future for Mississippi. What I know and what we all have seen is Republicans are not the answer for Mississippi.
Time and time again they have implemented national Republican policies to the detriment of the state. We can not continue to give tax breaks when the pay remains low. A backdoor tax, lottery, was pushed through by Republicans to prevent taxation of corporations in MS at a proper rate. How can Mississippians afford the taxes and fees when the pay is low and stagnate? Every day we read what is right for business. When will we read what is right for Mississippians?
The deadline to file to run for office is March 1st. Make your plan now if you desire to run for office. A better life starts with the local vote. Confirm your registration status and make a plan to vote in 2019.
The following county offices are on the ballot in 2019:
Sheriff, Chancery Clerk, Circuit Clerk, Tax Assessor, Tax Collector, Coroner, County Attorney, Surveyor, County Supervisors, Justice Court Judges, Constables.
