A fireworks show will light the skies of downtown Kosciusko on July 4.
The Kosciusko-Attala Partnership will be sponsoring a celebration to honor America with a parade and fireworks show beginning at 6:30 p.m.
“We want to make this a family and community event,” Main Street Dirctor G.G. Holmes said. “We saw the success of our Mardi Gras parade, so we wanted to do something to build on it.”
The parade will begin on Washington Street and continue through Madison and Jefferson streets. Participation in the parade is open to children’s wagons, bikes, golf carts, trucks and floats. Entry forms can be found at kosytrace.com or at the Kosciusko-Attala Partnership office with a June 24 deadline.
The fireworks show, which is sponsored by Dickerson Petroleum and Attala County Farm Bureau, will be shot at Renaissance Park. Spectators are encouraged to sit around the square.
“Last year Dickerson did fireworks on the highway, so we partnered with them to bring it to the square,” Holmes added.
Music and free cake and ice cream will also be available throughout the event.
