Capt. Mark Gilmore, a 16-year-veteran of the Kosciusko Police Department has cancelled plans to transfer to the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
Instead, he will remain with the KPD and continue serving as the department Schools Resource officer, according to KPD Chief Herbert Dew.
Kosciusko School Superintendent Billy Ellzey welcomed the news, especially since Gimore was experienced and had completed significant amounts of extra training as a resource officer and in the DARE program.
“We are excited to have Mr. Gilmore return to his position as resource officer for our school district. His experience and training with our schools and students is invaluable in keeping our students and staff safe,” said Ellzey. “We look forward to him continuing our DARE program and providing his leadership in school safety with our students and staff.”
