Kosciusko School District is moving forward with construction plans for the baseball and softball fields.
The Kosciusko Board of Trustees approved a bid totaling $29,810 to brick in the backstop and dugouts. The project will also brick the baseball press box and provide a new backstop for both fields. The baseball booster club donated $6,000 to the project, paying for the baseball field backstop. Also, poles for the softball field backstop were donated by Ivey Mechanical.
According to head baseball coach Jonathan Jones, the project should be completed before the start of the 2017 season.
In other action the board accepted a letter of resignation from Dustin Horne. They also voted to hire Larry Farmer as an English teacher at KHS for the remainder of the year, along with approving Greg Cooper as the KHS Boys Soccer Coach and Ben Patterson as a paraprofessional assistant for the program. Dorothy McShan was hired as a food service sub and Ryan Jobe was hired as a subsititute for the remainder of the school year.
The board also:
• accepted a bid of $253,990 for Cooper Marine for timber on 86 acres of Section-16 land;
• accepted a donation check from KHS Big Red Band Boosters as a reimbursement for state championship rings;
• approved amendments to the districts exemption and dual enrollment/ dual credit policies;
• approved Lower Elementary wellness policy;
• heard reports from all of the district principals concerning testing growth.
