The Kosciusko Board of Aldermen took the next step to limit out-of-town car vendors doing business in Kosciusko.
Aldermen approved a transient vendor ordinance last Tuesday, limiting non-local automobile dealers to hold a maximum of 20 cars on a lot. The ordinance also states that any tent placed on subject property shall be limited to 400 square feet and eliminates the use of any camper, RV or any other type of apparatus with sleeping quarters on the lot.
In other action the aldermen approved the hiring of two new police officers, Devante Lewis and Casey Pounders. The aldermen also approved the hiring of Zavier Mallet for the wastewater department.
Other action taken by the aldermen included
• accepting the resignation of police officer Deitric Brown;
• approving a payment of $250,680.47 to Delta contractors and a payment of $8,544.96 to Gardner Engineering;
• setting a public hearing for Jan. 17 for the comprehensive planning and zoning ordinance.
The next scheduled meeting of the Kosciusko Board of Aldermen will be Dec. 20 at 5:30 p.m. in City Hall.
