The Kosciusko Police Department is one step closer to having a full roster of officers, though positions still remain available, according to Chief Herbert Dew.
The department recently hired Robert Rushton as a full-time officer. Rushton is an experienced officer, having worked previously for other departments in Mississippi and New Mexico.
Robert Hooker, a former Lexington police officer, was hired as a part-time officer.
Robert Riley and Danny Groves were hired as part-time transport officers, but Dew said they can be used as needed in other areas of the department. Groves is a former full-time Kosciusko police officer.
Dew is happy to have experienced help and transport staff.
“All of these guys are certified,” he said. “We’ll be able to keep an officer in town instead of taking him off to do transport to Leake County.”
