Johnny Dotson, Jr., is being held in the Leake County jail on $40,000 in bonds on drug and weapons charges following his arrest early Monday morning.
Dotson had been sought by the Kosciusko Police Department since he ran from law enforcement on Grove Street in Kosciusko on July 26.
According to Chief Herbert Dew, law enforcement had received a tip about Dotson’s whereabouts and the suspect was taken into custody at a home on
Woodland Drive by the KPD, members of the U. S. Marshall’s Task Force, and the Attala County Sheriff’s Department.
Dotson faces one felony count of possession of a controlled substance, one felony count of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, and one felony count as a felon in possession of a firearm. The possession and firearm charges garnered a $10,000 bond each, and the possession with intent to distribute earned a $20,000 bond.
When he appeared before Judge L. Scott Pickle in Kosciusko Municipal Court Tuesday morning, Dotson said he would hire his own attorney to represent him on the charges.
A preliminary hearing was set for September 18.
