Long-term Kosciusko School Board President Kenneth Quick held on to his seat last week, defeating challenger Ryan Lindsay with 60.25 percent of the vote.
“I thought it was really good to see that the public still trusts my input and knows that I still try to do what’s right for the children,” Quick said.
Quick, who has been a member of the Kosciusko School Board since his appointment in 1996, totaled 1,249 votes while Lindsay had 821 votes. He will receive another five-year term to one of the two elected positions on the board, with the other three spots coming by appointment from the City of Kosciusko Board of Aldermen.
“We as a board will be working on trying to strive to get the district more curriculum-oriented and work to get more of our buildings up to date,” Quick added. “We will also be trying to increase security, but still keep a good learning environment for the kids to grow in academics. We are also trying to have the kids and parents know what areas are out there to help them with scholarships and going to college.”
Quick is the president of the Kosciusko School Board and a veterinarian at County Animal Clinic.
In the Attala County School Board race Christie Brunt Moody won re-election with 73.81 percent of the vote over newcomer Michael Johnson. Moody garnered 558 votes, while Johnson had 196 votes.
