The provisional class of Kosciusko Junior Auxiliary has completed six months of training. They have gone above and beyond to serve in the community (completing over 280 hours) through JA projects and most recently, through their provisional project, Oktoberfest, on Halloween afternoon. The group served children in the community with a fun, safe time of games, face painting, coloring, mystery boxes and more. The event was welcomed greatly by the community.
The new Junior Auxiliary active members have also learned about the National organization and local chapter. During their training, the new active members have also attended chapter meetings and will volunteer time to the community through JA for the next five years.
Junior Auxiliary is a national non-profit organization that encourages members to render charitable services, which are beneficial to the general public, with particular emphasis on children.
The local chapter was chartered by a group of caring, enthusiastic women in 1971 and continues to grow and thrive throughout Kosciusko and Attala County. Volunteers work throughout the year on a variety of projects that focus on local children and families in need of assistance.
JA of Kosciusko is a part of the National Association of Junior Auxiliaries (NAJA), a non-profit organization founded in 1941 with headquarters in Greenville.
The NAJA slogan is “Care Today – Character Tomorrow.” When teamed with the current focus of the Association, Junior Auxiliary Chapters are working to increase awareness of child health and welfare and how it affects their futures.
