The Kosciusko School District Board of Trustees voted Monday night to spend $40,362 in rural grant monies to continue advancing technology in district classrooms.
“By expanding our technology, students at the Kosciusko School District will be one step closer to being one-to-one,” said Josh Dodd. “This grant continues to put technology in the hands of our students and teachers in this ever-evolving world.”
The district will put 100 Chromebooks and four carts into circulation at Kosciusko Junior High School and 49 Chromebooks and two carts into use at Kosciusko Lower Elementary School using the funds.
Dodd said the increasing use of technology in the classroom helps prepare students for computer-based assessments, as well as increasing their overall technological skills.
“Students are assessed online these days. Therefore, having our students practice instruction and assessment on technological devices similar to their assessment tool and testing platform will increase their chances of being successful,” he said. “Having technological devices in the classroom throughout the year will also provide extended learning opportunities and enhance differentiated instruction opportunities.”
