Veterans Day on Friday will be marked with the Aisle of Honor program at Parkway Cemetery which is sponsored by United Veterans of Attala County.
Burial flags from deceased veterans of Attala County will be flown in the cemetery from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.
The program will begin at 11 a.m. with a march by all veterans from the cemetery to the James C. Foster Pavilion for the remainder of the program.
Following a welcome by Mayor Jimmy Cockroft, Emmette Armstrong, Commander of Disabled Americans (DAV), will introduce the speaker, Air National Guard Major Sheri Roebuck.
Major Roebuck grew up in Kosciusko. She received her associate degree in nursing from Holmes Community College and bachelor degree from Mississippi University for Women. Her career in the medical field includes 10 years in the Intensive Care Unit of St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. She served as Assistant Director of Nursing at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Jackson before coming to Kosciusko as administrator at the Martha Jo Leslie State Veterans Home in Kosciusko where she served for several years before accepting a position as coordinator over the four veterans homes in Mississippi.
She continues her commitment to veterans by serving as a Regional Clinical Consultant for HMR Veteran’s Services Inc.. She currently serves as a Major at the 172nd Airlift Wing for the Mississippi Air National Guard. She is a flight nurse and the OIC of Staff Development for her squadron.
In January, she will begin work on her doctorate degree at Samford University with plans to become a nurse practitioner, allowing her the ability to take her care of veterans to the next level.
In case of rain, the program will be held at the Attala County Coliseum.
