Since 1969, Bill Terry of Kosciusko has spent a week at Camp Lake Stephens in Oxford as a participant in Rainbow Camp.
He was honored for his long tenure of attendance during his week of camp this summer from July 3 to July 7.
According to Bill’s calculations and insistance, this was his 50th anniversary as a participant in the camp.
Activities of the day held in his honor were a hay ride, music, fireworks, a cookout of hamburgers and hot dogs and a decorated cake.
Former camp counselors and friends came to honor him for his faithfulness as a camper.
Among guests were Bill’s first camp counselor Jim Stephens, his lifeguard in 1969 Beckett Howard, and former counselors Laura Haddock and Sabrina Morris.
Bill is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hal Terry. He is a resident of the group home on Love Road.
Many local residents know Bill well from having seen him ride his bicycle around town, as well as his 12 years of service as an honorary Walmart associate.
