Participants in the 4-H Summer Program were introduced to canning on Monday, the final activity of the series of activities designed to make the most of summer vacation.
Latrelle Stokes, 4-H Agent from Oktibbeha County, instructed participants in making strawberry and blackberry jams and jellies. They were shown the process from the preparation of the berries, to jars of canned jams and jellies. Those taking part were Katerina Weatherbvy, G’Nice Alston, Katelyn Weatherby, Carlee Harmon, Olivia Cockroft, Matthew Phillips, Ann Louise Phillips and Maggie Jo Phillips. Also assisting were 4-H youth leader Becky Hamilton and Jackie Pullen, who gave nutrition facts.
