The Fun and Flowers Garden Club met with the Twenty-First Century Club at the Mid-Mississippi Library, Dec. 11, for a program of dulcimer music.
The Strummers of Vicksburg and the Carroll County Dulcimers entertained the groups with Christmas songs, hymns and a mix of old and new classic favorites. Members learned that there are at least two schools of playing: DAD and DAA. The initials stand for the musical keys of d and a. Special members of the Vicksburg group were Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Bryant, brother and sister-in-law of Dr. Edward Bryant. Mrs. Bryant is also the sister of Mr. James Young. Johanne Bryant, wife of Dr. Bryant, arranged the visit from the musicians. The program was closed with "Amazing Grace" and the audience was invited to sing along.
After the program, refreshments were served by hostesses Mary Al Alford, Johanne Bryant, Jean Fenwick, Andra Mooney and Mary Corinne Shaw.
Members from both clubs attending were Mary Al Alford, Doris Belk, Judi Bell, Kellie Berry, Johanne Bryant, Ann Carter, Alicia Carter, Hollee Casey, Sarah Cheek, Jean Fenwick, Rachel Hawkins, Gale Hooker, Kim Mackenzie, Anna Middleton, Andra Mooney, Teresa Paton, Anne Porter, Judy Potts, Mary Corinne Shaw, Julie Taylor and Sally Wasson. A number of guests also enjoyed the program.
