A week filled with adventures is currently under way at the Oprah Winfrey Boys and Girls Club in Kosciusko.
National Boys and Girls Club Week is being recognized this week, with the theme for 2016 being “Let’s Go on an Adventure.”
“Each day the kids will experience a different adventure this week,” said Iretis Mallett, program director at the OWBGC. “We have many things planned this week, and it should be a lot of fun.”
The children opened the week on Monday with a park adventure, which was a scavenger hunt at Jason Niles Park.
“This is so much fun,” one of the children screamed as they scurried around looking for items on their scavenger hunt list.
The children took part in a tennis adventure on Tuesday, exploring the different aspects of the game. On Wednesday, a Quick-Ball adventure was a popular game.
The week will be finished with a Frisbee group competition on Thursday and a lip sync contest on Friday.
“Our boys and girls club is here to serve our community,” said Donald Evans, chief executive officer for the OWBGC. “National Boys and Girls Club Week is a good time for us to celebrate what all we do to serve the young people and it is a good time for them to have a lot of fun with the different activities. We are thankful to be in a great community like Attala County and Kosciusko, because the community is always there to support what we do.”
