In addition to their diplomas, French Camp Academy seniors got directions for their next journey in life from Mississippi College President Dr. Lee Royce as he gave the commencement address at the French Camp Presbyterian Church Saturday morning.
Citing a family vacation aboard a sailboat, he compared advance preparations made for sailing to the journey they are beginning following graduation. Charting a course, following a map, having Jesus as a purpose for living and following
His teaching were admonitions he gave the class. Having a Biblical chart for life, preparing for the unexpected storms of life, walking by faith and not by sight and being well provisioned for life’s journey were additional guidelines given by Dr. Royce.
Dr. Royce was introduced by FCA President Stewart Edwards.
In addition to addresses made by salutatorian Cassidy Smith and valedictorian Brookelyn Box, other students taking part were Colin Terry who gave the invocation and Terri Nail, who led the Pledge of Allegiance followed by scripture read by Skyler Busbea and the benediction by Abrielle Teer.
Lance Ragsdale, Vice President for Development, gave the dedicatory prayer prior to awarding of diplomas by President Edwards, Principal Rusty McKnight and Assistant Principal Larry Littlejohn.
Music for the prelude, processional and recessional was provided by Anne Katherine Ragsdale, pianist.
Each member of the class wore a blue ribbon on their gown honoring the memory of former FCA staff member Martha Ward who died during their senior year.
