Memorial Day next Monday will be marked with the Aisle of Honor ceremony beginning at 11 a.m. at Parkway Cemetery.
More than 200 flags will fly, paying tribute to deceased veterans. The United Veterans of Attala County sponsors the Aisle of Honor each year on Memorial Day and again on Veterans Day in November.
Veterans along with the drum line and honor guard will march from the cemetery to the James C. Foster Pavilion on the cemetery grounds for the program. The pledge of allegiance will be led by Makenzie Harrell, and Sissy Lindsay will sing the National Anthem.
Guest speaker will be Attala County native 1st Lieutenant Ryan Lindsay, USAF, son of Bobby and Betty Lindsay of Kosciusko.
Ryan Lindsay is a graduate of Kosciusko High School and Mississippi State University. After receiving his ROTC commission, he spent the next year in Air Force Pilot Training at Columbus AFB, where he earned his military pilot wings and was assigned to fly the C-5 Galaxy cargo jet out of Travis AFB, California. He has flown cargo missions all over the globe from the United States to Asia and the Pacific, from Europe and Africa to the Middle East, logging thousands of flying hours and over 40 combat missions in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
After leaving the Air Force, he and his wife Sissy and their children, Dan and Lauren, moved from California to Kosciusko, where he now owns Redbud Financial Group along with Redbud Insurance Agency. Sissy is the owner of Lindsay CPA.
Following the program, the American Legion Riders will conduct a flag retirement ceremony.
In the event of rain, the program will be moved to the Attala County Coliseum.
