The game of musical chairs that is the Ethel High School football schedule played yet another tune this week as the Tigers will now play a home game against Pisgah High School on Friday night, instead of traveling to West Lowndes.
At this point it will be the last regular season game of the year. Ethel has an open date set for Nov. 6, before beginning the MHSAA Class 1A Playoffs on Friday, Nov. 13. Ethel is currently second in the region and would host a first-round playoff game if those standing hold.
Ethel moved into second place all alone in the four-team region with a 41-14 win over visiting Coffeeville on Friday night.
COVID-19 has played havoc on the Ethel schedule, with teams opting out of the region, then getting back in, as well as a two-week hiatus the Tigers had to take during the middle of the season due to quarantine.
The reason for changing this Friday night’s game is that West Lowndes is under quarantine, sending Ethel on a search for another opponent.
