The Attala County Board of Supervisors received two bids for solid waste collection and disposal during its meeting Tuesday morning.
Sealed bids received were from Waste Management and Arrow Disposal Service Inc. The low of $18.98 per month was received from Waste Management; however, any decision on the bids will be delayed until a called meeting takes place July 11 at 9 a.m.
In other action the supervisors received an update from Eloise Williams about the Attala County Library.
According to Williams, since May 23 the library has checked out 15,694 books with over 11,000 registered patrons. The library requested to receive an increase of $8,470 in operating expenses from the county due to state cuts.
The board also:
• approved the purchase of a backhoe for district four supervisor Kary Ellington;
• allowed board president Tim Pinkard to settle with tree removal at the airport;
• re-appointed Tim Nail, Herbert Dew and Danny Townsend to the E-911 commission;
• approved third quarter budgets for the sheriff’s office and tax collector;
• approved a bid for general supplies;
• accepted the resignation of county fireman William Ables.
