Margaret Massey of McCool bought one $100 ticket for the St. Jude Dream Home fundraiser each year, never expecting to win — but this year was different. Massey was announced the winner of the $475,000 dream home in Brandon this weekend.
“It is a beautiful home. It has top-of-the-line appliances and it’s open and airy,” she said of the home.
Despite the home’s appeal, Massey said she is unsure if she will move into the home or whether she will put it on the market.
“I don’t know yet. There is the matter of a huge tax bill,” for the property, she said. “I wish I had the money to have the two houses, but I don’t. I will probably end up selling it.”
