The Kosciusko girls and boys soccer teams were defeated by Richland, the boys losing 3-0 and the girls 2-0. Both games were scoreless at the half.
“I was pleased with what we did against a good program,” said coach Greg Cooper. “I thought we held our own.”
Like many schools in the Jackson area, Richland has a strong soccer program. The Richland boys lost a 2-1 game in the second round of last year's 4A playoffs to St. Stanislaus, which went on to win the state companionship.
Scheduled games with Louisville last week were canceled because Louisville is in quarantine. Kosciusko was also scheduled to play Louisville December 1, but those games have been postponed. Next on the schedule is Dec. 7 at home with Morton.
Cooper is trying to line up games for next week. “I'm working the phones with some coaches to try to get something scheduled.”
