Kyesun Jackson has been hired as McAdams boys basketball coach, creating a three-generation legacy. He is the grandson of the legendary Wilson Jackson and son of former McAdams coach Chadwick Jackson.
“I'm not trying to fill those shoes. They're too big for me to fill.”
Jackson is a 2014 Kosciusko graduate who attended Delta State for two years and graduated from Mississippi State in 2018 with a degree in physical education and kinesiology — the study of human body movement.
He was the junior high coach at Leake Central for one year and held the same position at Kosciusko Junior High the past two years. This year's team was undefeated in district play.
Jackson emphasizes defense. “Defense wins championships. If you're a good defensive team you can win a lot of games in Mississippi.”
He succeeds Kenyon Ross who had great success in three years. The Bulldogs were region champions all three years and reached the 1A semifinals at the Mississippi Coliseum in 2021 and 2022. This year's team played in the championship game.
Wilson Jackson won two state championships and 796 games at McAdams. The school gymnasium is named for him. He past away last year.
